About Us

ACRE, which stands for Alliance for Cohesion and Racial Equality was set up in 2012 to promote Equality, Community Empowerment, and Community Cohesion in Greater Reading. The organisation which was formally known as Reading Council for Racial Equality changed its name in 2012, with a set goal of eliminating discrimination, promoting positive relationships between communities, and advocating equal opportunities for all people of ethnic minorities.

  • Alliance for Cohesion and Racial Equality is the umbrella in Reading for Racial Equality
  • Alliance for Cohesion and Racial Equality is geared toward Communities Empowerment
  • Alliance for Cohesion and Racial Equality partners with other rights organisations to deliver best services
  • Alliance for Cohesion and Racial Equality is one of the oldest minority organisations in the UK

With the advent of the coronavirus, Acre, like many equality organisations across the country, our community support service work of engaging with people face to face on a daily basis to render assistance has been greatly hampered. Below is the list of some of our activities.

Acre

Acre is a welcoming space

Where everyone has a place

Regardless of your race

We are happy to see your face

Men women children and refugees gather

Our job here is to remind you that you matter

We are the wellness hub of occyroad

We are here to help lessen life’s load

So welcome one and all

I hope when you leave us you will stand tall

Our story here has just begun to unfold

Long may it continue to be told
